Special Trivia: The Wedding Ring & Ring Finger Connection

1 COMMENT/S
-
Dear Online Diary,

According to ancient Chinese excerpt, our fingers represent certain people in our lives:

The THUMB represents our parents.
The INDEX (second) finger represents our siblings.
The MIDDLE (third) finger represents ourselves.
The RING (fourth) finger represents our life partner; and
The PINKIE (fifth) finger represents our (future) children.

Now, do you want to know why wedding ring should be worn on the fourth finger, thus, calling it the Ring finger? Let’s discover the answer by simply following the activity below. This should be fun and interesting.

Starting Position:
Open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together – back to back. Once achieved, open and hold the remaining fingers – tip to tip, as shown on the image below:

{The correct position of the fingers as shown by H2B}

Trial#1:
Try to separate your Thumbs (representing our parents). Can we separate the fingers?

Yes. This symbolizes that our parents will somehow leave us, one way or another, because they are not destined to stay with us forever.

Trial#2:
Join the Thumbs just like on the starting position and separate your Index fingers (representing our siblings). Can we separate the fingers?

Yes, we can separate the fingers because our brothers and sisters will build their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.

Trial#3:
Join the Index fingers and separate your Pinkies (representing our future children). Can we separate the fingers?

Yes, they can be separated, too. It’s because our future children will get married, leave us and settle down someday.

Final Trial:
Join your little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse). Can you do it? Can you separate the fingers?

It maybe a little surprising but we just CANNOT separate the two fingers. It’s because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick or thin, for better or for worst, in good times and bad.

-- o0o --
It's fun, isn't it? In addition, let this be a reminder (specially to those who are a little lost) that our friends can bring us happiness today. It's true, but what about tomorrow, or the next day, or when we were seasoned and old? Can our friends and acquaintances stay with us?

Well, not everyone. Let’s not forget that in the end, only our spouse can stick with us, just because REAL, BLESSED LOVE will stick together, forever and ever.

I can only hope that everyone will realize this very important lesson before it can be too late. Seriously.

May God touch your heart, your mind and your life not only today but forever and ever . Amen. =)

Wedding Checklist: The "It" Rings

2 COMMENT/S

Dear Online Diary,

Finding the right wedding ring was not an easy task for H2b and me. We want a ring that will last forever as it’s the only remembrance we could carry for the rest of our married life. It’s the symbol of our love and promise to each other. It’s the symbol of fidelity. It’s more than just a fit. It’s not just another piece of jewelry as it will not often leave our finger. Hence, the quality of the material is of utmost importance. It was a good thing that we chose the right supplier who patiently guide us and answered all our queries in almost every bridal fair that we attended.

More and more wedding ring suppliers today offer customized wedding rings to suit the needs of every couple. Having an extensive choice of styles and designs is just overwhelming so it took us six bridal fairs to find which suits both of us the best.

As soon as we saw the pair of rings, we both feel the “This is it!” feeling that B2Bs feel when they have found the right bridal gown for them and I know that W@Wies can relate on this matter. The pair may not be one of our initial choices as what I have posted on my previous post and I cannot stress how hard it was but I’m glad that we have found the "it" rings. Here's the pair:

Each ring has a .14 karat vs1 eye color diamond, channeled, flat finished, 14k italian white gold in matte finished with smooth lining. This is just a sample pair from Golden Hills. Our actual rings will be like this except that the lining is in yellow gold.

The good thing about this is that it has lifetime warranty which includes free cleaning, engraving, resizing and a cute arrhae.

What a great way to end this entry is to share five helpful tips in choosing one's wedding ring that we learned from a seminar that we attended:

Tip#1
Consider your lifestyle in terms of work and sports. Bear in mind that you’re going to wear the ring every single day for the rest of your life after you say “I do”.

Tip#2
What is your personality? Is it simple, artistic or elegant? You can definitely find a ring that will match your personality to a “T”.

Tip#3
Think about the comfort you can embrace and match it with the width of the ring.

Tip#4
Matching design is a personal preference. Couples need not to get matching rings these days. Some couples, if not all, prefer to get a pair of ring wherein the bride’s diamond ring matches her engagement ring while the groom prefer to skip the stones.

Tip#5
Will you consider it as part of the wedding cost or more of an investment? Remember that wedding rings are made of gold, platinum or carbide, which are precious metals.

The Proposal: H2B Popped IT!

2 COMMENT/S
Dear Online Diary,

Many are wondering how H2B popped the question. The very essence of why we’re preparing this wonderful wedding.

I’ll do the best that I can to relay what he did, his preparations and whatnot, but first, let me give you a little background on our relationship.

We now know each other for quite some time and we got together on the last quarter of 2004. We were office mates back then, as a matter of fact, he was my Quality Analyst. Because he wanted to pursue his programming career and I wanted to get rid of the old boring job, we decided to shift to another industry – he joined the electronics industry as a programmer/system developer while I joined the call center industry.

What’s great about us is that we hold on to each other through thick and thin. He’s my greatest supporter as much as I am to him especially during the challenges that even attempted to break our relationship.

One night while H2B and I were out in a restaurant to celebrate my birthday, he showed me this gorgeous photo album (he’s a photo hobbyist, by the way). There I saw all the pictures he took, literally, throughout our journey together. Every page of the album contains pictures that were taken on our first trip to Baguio, while we were out on a mall or a theme park, while playing badminton, and while leisurely walking on the historical streets of Vigan. Seeing all those photographs made me remember how important this person means to me. On the last few pages, I saw a statement written just like this: “Bhy, you know I’m trembling...” with some other pictures of us together. On the next page, I read “Will you...”. At that moment from across the table, I saw him holding this small red box and his eyes were full of emotion. He opened the box, lovingly hold my hand and said, “Will you marry me?” He then came to me and put the gorgeous diamond ring around my finger. Teary-eyed, I kissed him and I said the sweetest "Yes" I could mustered.

{The stunning engagement ring}

There it goes. We’re finally seriously taking the next chapter of our lives together...
Happiness..

Wedding Rings Galore

5 COMMENT/S

Dear Online Diary,

Last week, we went to Golden Hills Robinson’s Galleria branch to “visit” our babies (read: wedding rings). All three sets are equally gorgeous so up to now, we’re having a hard time in choosing what we like best.

Currently, we both like a two-toned diamond ring. What we have in mind is a white gold ring with yellow gold lining. The ring got to have at least one diamond stone and a maximum of five stones, preferably, princess cut diamond stone. Here are the short-listed rings:

{Ring A}

White Gold rough finish and white gold lining with round-cut diamond stone. If we're going to get this, we will request to customize the ring and change the lining to yellow gold.

{ Ring B}

White gold rough finish and yellow gold lining. What we like about this is that it has a princess cut diamond stone.

{Ring C}

White gold rough finish and yellow gold line in the center with small round cut diamond stone. We like the round finish and it is so light as if you're not wearing a wedding ring.
